Army Of Empties
Grasping at air, hungry for more
locked behind eyes, a forever closed door.
We are the many, gone are the few
who ever among us sanity knew.
Every nuance of human spark
now flickers to fade here in the dark.
Are we the same robotic selves
whose voices resound in similar pall.
Whom was I, can't I ever know
first I was here yet ever slow
guarding the thing I held to strong
now it trails behind our throng.
Each step we make a stumble forth
our inner compass unregisters north.

How to be an Eavesdropper
It's the quiet ones you have to watch!"
I've heard said before
and there's a kernel of truth there.
Though shy and inhibited,
I treat life as one long lesson
and have picked up an unexpected skill:
Eavesdropping! I'm very good at it.
A reserved personality helps,
but is not essential.
To really succeed,
a book or newspaper makes a great prop.
You can pretend to read avidly;
even move your eyes
and turn pages periodically,
while straining your ears
to pick up every word.
Ideal...

New Shoes
I never had much interest
in clothes or shoes,
though I did have a passing interest
in earrings and hair accessories.
Nowadays, I think I would like
to shop for a pair of shoes.
It's been many years since I did,
for shoes have become a symbol
of what I can no longer have.
Booted and braced and insole-d,
I'm grateful that I can walk
short distances on flat terrain.
Foiled by lack of cashflow,
footwear rarely requires much thought—
the same pair of Clark's size 5½ ankle boots
have adorned my feet...

They who know their own magic
may foretell that of another's
In the Beginning
They were prophesied before light
those divine seers of balance
who would offset the dominance
of fear and ignorance
Thus, emerged existence, ignited
by flickerous explosions
heralding its own destiny
through multi-dimensional experience
Formlessness begetting embers—
sparks of souls, drifting
further from the Source of their birth
separated by the eternal womb
of blood and bone
yet connected by a silver cord ...
