Frozen in Time: Faded Polaroid
The cardboard cigar box smelled of attic dust. I opened it with reverence.
My father, now dead, seemed frozen in time to me as an older man, but the Polaroid image in my hand showed him at sixteen, staring at a sender girl in a white bathing suit.
Was this my father, his eyes filled with such grown-up desire?
Her face seemed innocent but determined, and I thought, beautiful.
On the back of the Polaroid, he’d inked, “Susan 1980.”
I held the thick edge and looked at their faces, frozen in time.
How long must life have looked to them as they...

I will till the day I die
I hope that there will never come a day where I have to live without you
if that day comes I imagine I wouldn't be alone
I imagine that your friends would make sure I'm okay.
look what we've become
I can't imagine a day without you
I'm afraid that one day you might go too soon
We're two peas in a pod
you can't imagine one without the other
I know that I'm going to spend my Days missing you if you go
I know that we would have at least one kid
but I don't know how I'd continue on ...

i fell in love with you on commonwealth avenue
the sky has never been quite so blue
stars will never shine as bright as you
all those long nights filled with elation
getting completely lost in conversation
memories i’ve frozen in time
because i know i couldn’t press rewind
baking cake in your apartment
spilling coke zero on your carpet
spontaneous adventures throughout the city
simultaneous smiles walking for miles went by so quickly
how fast we inhaled those tasty...
