My Backwards Ways
growin up
i tried to fight
my country roots
but that neon light
was in my blood
hey i'm country from my hat down to my boots
momma was rockin out to Tracy Larwance and George Strait
grandma and grandpa would always play
Bob Seger and Elvis
and daddy was gettin down
to the sound
of Lynard Skynard and Ozzy
yeah country soul
mixed with some rock n roll
hey just the way i was raised
ya'll its in my veins
so dont ask me why i'm like this today
country aint where you're at
hell anyone can wear a cowboy hat
its all in how you were brought up
yeah dirt road tough
and i'm proud to be
what you might call redneck
just like my family
so say what you want to say
i know where i got my backwards ways
that Garth Brooks tape
was the first thing i ever owned
i'd come home
and steal my cousins walk man
and play it over and over again
you know i wore that tape out
but i knew every word
every line
it was all stored up there in my little mind
oh
hey just the way i was raised
ya'll its in my veins
so dont ask me why i'm like this today
country aint where you're at
hell anyone can wear a cowboy hat
its all in how you were brought up
yeah dirt road tough
and i'm proud to be
what you might call redneck
just like my family
so say what you want to say
i know where i got my backwards ways
it dont matter if you grew up on a farm
or if you aint ever seen a barn
if you knwo right from wrong
and can sing ever Alan Jackson song
oh
hey just the way i was raised
ya'll its in my veins
so dont ask me why i'm like this today
country aint where you're at
hell anyone can wear a cowboy hat
its all in how you were brought up
