In the Dark of Light
Terrified of what is known
With every day you die alone
Barron color no light to find
Swirling shadows absorb the mind
Vast silhouettes so well defined
Swaying spellbound scared of mankind
Submerged inside the dark of light
No thoughts elude a dreadful sight
Your demons leer surrounding you
Playing sick games of peek-a-boo
Scenarios always conceive
Such vexing fears that never leave
Breathing smothered you gasp for air
The horror spreads to everywhere
Plagues of darkness won't let you sleep
Trepidation is yours to keep
Familiar screams resound afar
Intensify in who you are
Tremble deeply to all unseen
Reminders are a gruesome scene
Flash of darkness prevails your face
Impending fright provides the chase
The wounded prey of another day
Bleeds and dies like yesterday
Senses surge unfit to cope
Thick is the dark immune to hope
Despondency transcends belief
Warning shots are your relief
The pulse of hate beats by design
Experience is a danger sign
Serial victim's last appeal
Forgiveness lost its charms to heal
Anywhere is too much to bear
Where do you go where you're not there?
Consternation serves to confound
An exit plan that must be found
When living can't unring the bell
You return to where the angels fell
Mourning dawns a strange outline
The product of the black sunshine
For peace it's worth the cost of sin
Only through death will life begin

such a pleasure to read with a beautiful flow created by delicate rhyming and what looks to be a great sense of meter. That really takes a strong sense of mental discipline...plus you have given so much well described imagery to it that a picture beside it would have been desecration...

An excellent write with a great rhyming flow. I have rhymed my work for over 30 years, but have been working with free verse for the past eight months.
