Oscillatory Reflections
I am noticed for my
elegant frame,
my glimmer —
A focus of admiration
or twisted
repulsion.
While beauty shines outwards,
my charming
gift is sought.
I hold glaring honesty,
with instant
reactions.
Unfailingly, I must accept
nothing more
than contempt.
I am abandoned,
anchored here
and alone.
No one considers the
echoing soul
of a mirror.

awesome!
love the minimalistic style
the last two stanzas really speak to me
'I am abandoned,
anchored here
and alone.
No one considers the
echoing soul
of a mirror."
I'm sure I have mumbled those words to myself at some point in my life! well done :)

What a wonderful portrayal of said mirror your words evoke the image vividly.
Great work Atakti.

Fine read indeed Atakti
Your use of the mirror is solid, without being pitying.
Enjoyed this Hun :)

This is a rather lovely and beautifully crafted poem about a woman's reflection in a mirror. My one comment is that it feels a bit distant, as though you're writing at arm's length. Some more artistic flourishes - metaphors, similes etc. - wouldn't go amiss. JMHO of course. It's still a beautiful poem and I wouldn't want you to spoil it on my account. Thanks for the read.

A mirror really, and its thoughts on whoever gazes upon it. The distance comes from the nature of its concurrent depth and shallowness. Stark existence..

Love this! The last verse is especially good but I'm loving the title

I wonder if I should have withheld that last stanza and left readers wondering ;)

I think most of it keeps you guessing, your never quite sure and I love that element about it most to be honest. But don't take out the whole stanza I love 'echoing soul' maybe just try and replace the word mirror?

The mirror definitely reflects, in some cases deflects, what one sees... and I think that you played this effect through awesomely in this Atakti.
Very well done indeed.

You mentioned possibly removing the last stanza to keep people guessing...im undecided on that thought. The revelation there at the end was sort of the climax to foreplay, it finished it off nicely. I enjoyed reading it again ,then, knowing for sure what it was about...that and I dont know what the word Oscillatory means, so it helped me pull it all together :)

Read it again again...and yeah, it could be fun to remove the last stanza and leave the guess there!

re: Re: Oscillatory Reflections
Thank you, artky, I also think the last stanza should stay. Sometimes overly cryptic is irritating.
:) Pleased you enjoyed it.
Edit: Oh no! lol, just when I thought it was sorted...
