You Don’t Know Me! & Oh Yes I Do!

(collaboration of Santa Cruz Poetry Enclave)

You’ll never know what
thoughts race within
my mind
What I feel inside!
No One Ever will know
who I am!
You try, but can you comprehend?

Listen, no look here   listen
--- My name is and I . . .
Wait -- are you listening?

The vacancy at the hotel made me feel more alone
The bounce of my voice off the wall the only
Answer to my incessant questioning.

Can anyone hear me?  Not I!
Searching my mind I tangle with threads
Further webs of confusion
Do I know you?  Do I know myself?
If I don’t know God does he know me?
I’m searching in silence and in that moment
my heart screams.   Searching for meaning
For understanding.

           Yes, I understand,
I know You.
I know you all too well,
Or your
type, anyway.
Your life is open
before me because
my sense of empathy
reaches within the
inner depths of
your skull.
Your heart pours before
my feet,
and your life is a broken record
I’ve heard
a thousand times over.

“I am he as you are we and we are all together” -- Lennon

You and I search for God.
I’d believe in God, if he believes in me.
Your business can be only your own.
But I, like you, have eyes ears and a nose,
and many of the same problems as you.
My ears are tired of hearing your life stories,
Because my heart has lived through it.

The hotel bustling with emptiness,
Full of an outpouring of souls past.
Presently empty, the walls are speechless
And yet seem to be holding
back the past brimming
Flowing in from a past bye gone . . .

And through the annals of human perception it is such.
False intentions followed by false words.
You cannot hope for your own
intentions and you must not know mine.
What is it that the two of us seek?
Candy-sweet ensanguined rapture
or the cyclonic whirl and
death rattle of technicolor falsehoods.

Can oneness and individuality
ever find a space
for unity?
Can we publicly seek out
our private sanctions?
Hypocrisy is the key to
togetherness.

It is okay.
It is alright.
Honesty salvation.
Thank you.
