Home no More
Home no More
The sticker slapped upon my door
Informs me that we have a home no more
Gather up the wife and children with not much more than the clothes that hang off of us
At least it’s summertime I guess we won’t freeze sleeping under the night sky
But the season will change and we don’t have enough blankets to keep us warm
So we go to the shelter that is overflowing
With despair and broken human beings
In the darkness the vultures prey upon the few objects that we still own so we are back out on the cold concrete with nowhere to turn
We gather in the park to sleep with God’s creatures but a sign above us says we can’t stay here for long
See a policeman hoping he will assist our sad situation but he coldly tells we have to keep moving on
A new city ordinance guides his heartlessness
We can’t afford a home but the Supreme Court
Tells us we can’t be homeless here
