I Never Post My Poetry

I never post my poetry
Because there are those who have no ears
To see an invisible big picture
I would have to field a few back-water comments
Swallow them whole and take them personally
Machismo in tone, innocent in motive

Like, when I say
My Skullcandy sends me to places
To a time in point
Cat by my side, in tow
For as long as she lives, she sleeps
For as long as I please, I lay here
Listening

See what I mean?
Now post it, because I lie.

Author's Note
One of my first pieces. I was just laying there listening to my music and filled with the wonderment of reality. Then I thought of all those FaceBook friends who. I'm sure, would absolutely not get it if I tried to explain it. With me, lightning strikes with a single line that appears from nowhere. "There are those who have no ears" was that line, and withing 45 minutes the thing was fleshed out in the rough. Refining and cleaning up the strike sight usually takes months of checking back in on it, after forgetting what I wrote. Most of you know this routine, no doubt. I love themes of irony and conflicting ideas colliding into a singular thought. Using this title and then posting it, I find a satisfying expression in that.
