Garden State
(wait it out, or go without)
I don’t have to talk about it, see it for what it is, dance around it, worry about it, be sick about it, be sure of it, put it under a pillow, put it under a tree, follow it around, promise it the moon, give it room or wait it out.
I just walk thru it in wonder like Moses, swing from it, wear it on a sleeve, wear it like a shoe, tell it the truth.
Cause that’s love, it’s big, love. Breathe it in, give it skin, say it out loud, color it in, it’s big. Bigger than the both of us.
I don’t have to make it up, throw it away, give it a shove, sabotage it, give it space, wrap it around, laugh about it, cry about it, stuff a sock in it, stuff it in a box in the back of the closet shelf, write it down, dump it down the drain or go without it.
I just swim thru it, sing it in a song, fly it like a kite, beat it like a drum, give it culture and let it burn.
Cause that’s love, it’s big, love. Breathe it in, give it skin, say it out loud, color it in, it’s big. Bigger than the both of us.
Release it like an exhale
Inhale it like a whale and blow it out the top, give it pressure, get it high
Let it form a puddle
Give it more
Give it all
Put it on a sandwich
Feed it to the rain
Send it roses
Just slide it between the sheets and slither, then listen to it
Smell it like a flower
Give it more
Give it all
Cause that’s love, it’s big, love. Breathe it in, give it skin, say it out loud, color it in, it’s big. Bigger than the both of us.
Breathe it in, give it skin, say it out loud, color it it in, it's big.
