Time to get this thread humming again. Here's one of my covers that could use a little more love. Liability by Lorde. Not really sure how I sang it without crying.

A few of my latest, wildly different covers. One by Veruca Salt (alternative grungey girl-punk): https://www.bandlab.com/post/6609ab73-4aab-ed11-a8e0-000d3a3f8f45
and a very mellow piano cover of one by The Cars.

Note, when you open these it will try to tell you that you have to download the bandlab app, but you don't. Just hit cancel and carry on... Hope you enjoy!

Well I got here via your post on the thing's you've made forum -- bit of a stretch of comfort zone for the music style with the first one -- but the Cars' cover was much enjoyed.

Thanks for listening, Josh! I did warn you about the genre of that first one... 😁 Haha, I'm all over the place with music styles...

A recent cover I'm pretty pleased with. Lots of fun vocal parts in this one! (It's also the song that prompted the phrase "learning how to yell in tune", which turned into a deep thought and became a wee poem here.)

I'm absolutely obsessed with this song and its old school vibe at the moment since hearing it during Elton John's Glastonbury set. So here's my humble attempt at it in an effort to get this thread back up and running. Plus I’m in the headspace where I just want a little sing:

Hoi hoi
I hope your day will be beautiful.
As you can see, I do cooperations with fellow DUP’ers.
For this purpose I am looking for a relatively young female singer to sing the specific female lyrics that these DUP’ers write now and then.
With this post, can I bring this to the attention on this forum? I really hope so.
The whole process can be done electronically.
I am more of a fan of singers who sound like fun than who sound like technically perfect. But don’t feel left out if you really can sing.
No contracts/money involved. The only thing that matters is the fun of creating.
Thank you for your reply via PM and thank you very much for helping out.
Kind regards, Gus

I sing. Happy to help if needed. Hit me up if you want to discuss further.

What a quick reply!
I love this!
And yes, 39 IS young. And in the examples, you will see why that is practical.
This is what I posted in the Netherlands.
I really would love it if you are willing to join.
It’s a very loose way to cooperate.
I hope you’ll look at it and already I am glad that you answered.
And I hope you’ll let me know what you think!
Feel free to write lyrics to be put to music too!
Three examples
First amount of listens in the Netherlands + plus the amount on an international forum
Example 1
Let your heart decide (5.100 + 2.100 listens)
When I walk through the dark
I realise love is hard to find
when I see the beauty
I never give up. Let your heart decide
When I walk through the dark
I realise there is love to find
when I see the beauty
I never give up. Let your heart decide
Let your heart decide
I am not afraid. So come closer
I am not afraid. At all
I am not afraid. So come closer
And let your heart decide
(Katze Konigsberg - lyrics)
On behalf of Katze too, kind regards, Gus

Lyrics: Katze Konigsberg @Katze Konigsberg
Music: Gus Aka Jilted Johnny aka Duhsjaak
Drums: Four Fourty Four on the Floor (Thank you very much for the outstanding drum part)
A musical quote is included in the intro.

Example 2
An kind American woman wrote these lyrics:
- Tekst: Faith Brigham
- Drums: Lumbeat (Thank you Lumbeat!)
The lyrics:
Loving Me (8.500 + 2.500)
It played out
In plain view
For all to see
The way you
Love me is
A wonderful thing
You claim it
Happened even
Before we met
You knew you
Loved me
And always did
I was surprised
To hear that you
Have already made
Plans for us
I felt for you
An immediate trust
The bottom line
Is simple and sweet
I love your
Loving me

Katrina, a love that rattled the doors and windows.
At the time, I cooperated with ‘zoon van Piet’, so this is a song without solo’s on guitars.
Katrina (2.300 + 2361 + 1.500)
[Chorus]
Katrina, ain't no surprise they named a storm after you
You catch my eyes with everything that you do
You're beautiful, it's true, but so dangerous too
Oh Katrina
Katrina, won't you step closer and blow me away
I'm hanging on to every word that you say
Yeah you can ruin my life while making my day
Oh Katrina
Won't you please move my way
Please move my way
[Verse]
Oh I knew it from the moment I saw her
That I'd never be the same
I've known ever since the day I met her
She'd be the cause of all my pain
But she drew me in with the sweetest kiss
Into this rain
Now there's no turning back, no escaping this
She's a fucking hurricane
[Chorus]
Katrina, ain't no surprise they named a storm after you
You catch my eyes with everything that you do
You're beautiful, it's true, but so dangerous too
Oh Katrina
Katrina, won't you step closer and blow me away
I'm hanging on to every word that you say
You can ruin my life while making my day
Oh Katrina
Won't you please move my way
Please move my way
Kozo Pinkwillow (lyrics)

Kozo was 17 or 18 at the time she wrote this. Hence my idea that a singer, who is able to ‘step into the lyrics’ is a nice idea.
Enjoy!
Vriendelijke groet, Gus

Hi Gus,
I also sing. I doubt you'd call me "relatively young", but you can hear my voice in various things I've posted in this thread and on my own page, and decide for yourself. I love stepping into whatever character a song demands!
I'll check out the links you've put here when I get a chance. I only just recently started a SoundCloud account & haven't kept up with it... I mostly share my music on Bandlab under the name with_a_k. Always happy to make new musical connections!
Also, I totally forgot about this thread. Have you sung anything recently, Missy?? Would love to hear it! Love your voice. 😍

Hi again, Gus -
Your SoundCloud link isn't working, but I was able to listen to the other two. Great stuff!
If you really want to find other musicians to collaborate with, I'd highly suggest Bandlab.com. There's a whole world of musicians there, who are specifically wanting to collaborate, and the platform makes it easy. In my experience, DUP hasn't been a great place for finding music collaborators. I can help you navigate & meet some people on bandlab if you wish.
