Sixes and Sevens
This was the year they should have been walking across stage
Caps and gowns with smiles and cheers all around
This was supposed to be the year they were going to graduate
Instead
We still reel over what happened on that dreadful day
This was the summer they were supposed to spread their wings
Off to adventures, like falling in love or going away on vacation
Some would have been heading to college for higher education
Instead
We’re left wondering with what could have been
No parent should ever have to bury a child
Not especially under those circumstances
We still mourn for twenty little children
And the six adults who tried to protect them
Charlotte six
Olivia six
Dylan six
Daniel seven
Madeline six
Catherine six
Jesse six
Josephine seven
Ana six
James six
Emilie six
