Writer's Block

I was a soft rolling river
Enjoying my day

Sparkling and twinkling
Relaxing into May

Then I felt it
Subtle at first

Trying to move
It began to hurt

There it was
 the reason for my pain
A damn beaver’s dam.
Mission to drive me insane

It blocked my flow
What should I do
I really don’t know
No one to turn to

Mother Nature took pity
On me you see
A bolt of lightning
Hit the dam making debris

I started to move
It was not quite the same
I just needed time for the
Words to flow into my brain.

Dams may get built
As tall as a wall
Just give it time
All walls do fall.
