The Lady Blue (The Proposal)

One night at the club, after I finished singing, Gary came up to me from behind me taking me by surprise.        
   "How is the most beautiful woman in all of New Orleans doing tonight?"i turned around to face him with a big smile on my face.        
   "You caught me on my way out," I said meeting his eyes.        
   "Don't go," he said embracing me, "Stay with me awhile!"      
    "Joe's at home waiting for me."      
     "Let him wait, Babe." He said then moved his tongue over my right ear.        
     "Gary, it's getting late.,"        
     "Stay with me here tonight. We can sleep on the sofa."      
     "Joe would kill me if I did that."        
     "I want to make love to you so bad."      
     " You don't know how hard it is for me to say no to you," i said trying to pull away.        
     "Then don't! " he said then abruptly picked me up and took me back to the office.        
   .."I don't understand what you're still doing with Joe," he said lowering me onto the sofa.        
     "He wants to marry me and have babies." I watched as Gary undressed down to his boxer shorts. "You're not marrying anyone unless it's me."       
     "Are you asking me to marry you?" He lay down beside me and took me into his arms.        
   "If you want to get married then we'll get married and have a dozen kids if that's what you want. I filed for divorce today and we can be together for ever now."        
   "If you are sporting me Gary Maupin I swear I'll break your legs."        
    "I couldn't do that. I would do anything for you, Babe". He cupped my face  in his hands then added, " I mean anything."     
    "It's you I always wanted."       
     "After my divorce is over with, we'll do it. Let's plan on the 4th of July and afterwards, we'll have the biggest barbecue anyone has ever seen for a reception. How would you like that?"     
    "That would be perfect! Just perfect!" Gary kissed me then moved his lips to my neck and kissed me there.  
     "Is that a yes then?" He laughed easily then looked at me with a wide-mouthed grin.     
     "Mais, how could I say no to something that I have wanted for so long?"        
     "I love you. You have always been my woman and always will. No other women has ever satisfied me the way you do."        
    .I was so excited. I knew rarely if ever left their wives for their mistresses. But this time it really was happening.
