Forgiven but Not Forgotten

I couldn't forget our history
even though I forgive you
because your lies were too much
it was embedded too deep in me

you said you loved me so much
but it wasn't strong enough for truth
when you lived within a blanket
of your own fictional comedy

you led me on a gentle dance
of deceit in the cover of love
all so sweet and intoxicating
I was lost in the fragrance of assurance

when you unmasked yourself
I saw the rawness of your real self
the ugliness of your beauty
in the depth of your hypocrisy

everything was fictional
your life, your family
your ambitions, your achievements
nothing...just an empty shell

my heart was broken
I was hurting physically
I was so angry and ashamed
for being a pushover

I moved on, I don't love you anymore
you are a stranger, a passer-by
If you died on the road
I'd step over you.
