Plot twist

 
 
Reaching for a hand  
bumped a trigger instead  
 
Watching the projectile enter between ribs  
Standing frozen  
in that familiar helpless distortion  
Reality melting as ears buzz  
with the roar of silent confusion  
 
Feeling the slow explosion inside  
fragments flying off in all directions  
lodging in heart, brain, throat  
Smearing memories, slicing futures  
This was an unforeseen plot twist  
 

But look!  
That growing red stain is so pretty  
 
I guess this is how the end begins
