Autumn in Phoenix
Vibrant reds and yellows
swaths of orange
streak the sky
in a valley of millions
sunset air pollution
at least its pretty
brisk breezes of Fall
crisp red apples
earthy cider wafts
of cloves and cinnamon
hay rides under warm blankets
seasonal pleasures
enjoyed by those further north
glad at least some get to experience them
this time of year
is an arborial fashion show
change in the air
the promise of snow
but not here
and I'm grieving
Autumn in Phoenix
is for leaving

Smog is the colorful mimic for Autumn
You spilled this perfectly
Having lived in the Phoenix / Scottsdale area for nearly 8 yrs
i've seen gorgeous skies and often lamented and loved the sights.
Here in southern AZ, where i now live, Autumn still has that air of Phoenix
but every winter there's always a chance of light to moderate snow
and so,
i put up with this.

The only decent part of winter in central Florida is at least the humidity goes down.
But, your write gives me a smile, because it's not stuck being central Florida! Thanks for the exceptionally detailed trip to Phoenix, in your write. I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Now I'm remembering the swampy Orlando vibe and kind of missing it (from many visits there). But like Phoenix, a New England autumn it's not.
