Poem
1978
walking down 16th
St
watching the hookers
shine like dirty stars
against the radiated
pavement
the moon sings a
song and french
kisses the dark
coffee sky
the bar doors open,
close
letting out lost
dreams
letting in dreams
still searching for
a dreamer
there's rock-n-roll
on the jukebox
I'm old enough to
drink now
I order a beer and
two fingers of
bourbon
.
sit here in the lurid
neon
and wait to see if
a dream can
catch
me
