Most of those stories would get me in trouble with someone, so we'll leave them here in the underground...

Gotta comment on this one again, sorry PS. I think you are absolutely correct. There is a time when we never think we're gonna get old when we're in our prime. Gettin' old is for later, right? Personally, with me, it started to dawn on me that I was indeed ageing by the time I reached my 30's. By my 40's, I realised I was mortal, however silly that sounds. Call it delayed shock, denial or whatever. I would like to have shaken your hand back then but also partly because time travel has always fasinated me. 😊

Often I feel like I have no age.  Though of course I do.  And whatever youth you feel at any given time period, you're viewed by your appearances.  I found this picture recently when looking for something else.  It just stopped me in my tracks.  I knew a poem would ascend from it. I'm glad you're digging it.

I dig it because I think sometimes you & I think alike in the sense that we might say, up yours to age & let's focus on rediscovering our youth, right? After all, as you say, we don't feel any different, mentally but maybe physically, we can't move as fast as we used to, lol. From my side of the fence, any new love interest always reinvigorates me, even just a perceived interest. I'll stop there! 🤣

Dear H,

I always wanted to be two different musicians in my head.  Jim Morrison who was a Poet first and Jorma Kaukonen who was the lead guitarist for Jefferson Airplane.  The power, the fury, the music, words, sex, drugs, alcohol and rock n` roll.  I wanted to be them.  Morrison died at 27 and Jorma is still on the road at 82 playing 100 gigs a year with Hot Tuna.  Both  were substance abusers, one lived to tell ...

We all have dreams and 99.9 percent of us don't become Rock Stars.  But we as poets  have our corner and soap box.  I think we use it well.

It was pretty wild.
I had a bunch of torrid liasons.  I could never go the traditional route in relationships, always needed that Fringe element and it was the times too ....

I grew up
Did a lot of crazy stuff along the way.
Like welding art sculptures in my apartment.
The sculptures came out great but the concept of usung a propane torch in my living room now gives me pause.
I might not have been as cool as this picture demonstrates but I've always felt like Jim Morrison and when I sang "Touch Me" in my garage with all that reverb, life was pretty good !!
