The Right Woman

I have faults
he says
You don’t have to accept them
However, the right woman
*will* accept them
You are not the right woman

The right woman will honor
his every dark request
I requested those requests
only to be stranded in twilight
because
I am not the right woman

The right woman
will warm up to his coldness
She’ll love the idea
of not being loved
She’ll decisively tolerate
his chronic indecision
She won’t fight
his petty arguments
She’ll be his one and only
or his one of many
Fiercely loyal
to his lack of commitment
The right woman
will stand by him
Every time he knocks her down

Fortunately,
I am not
the right woman
