Afterlife

Pious alchemists, implanted nanoprobes, into a dying man's mind
To behold a rapturous ascent, to an Afterlife, intelligently designed
And so they observed his final journey, through death's, open door
Transmitting, via a live stream; on screens, we saw, what they saw

His fading dreams, died with him, as he went to a nowhere place
And without cognitive function, he was soon lost, without a trace
And the collective breaths, that were held, were exhaled in despair
For nothing was unveiled, as if the Afterlife, had never been there

We watched and then we listened and we heard, what they heard
But the profound, silence, was deafening, as it was, un-d-isturbed
So maybe they were wrong, or the nanoprobes, chose not to cater
For what was witnessed, on every screen, was, there was no data
