Nostalgia
Melancholy, winter's march
grey, damp atmosphere
listlessly awaiting spring
A naked maple tree
her thin branches, outward
from their rooted trunk of soil
sweep slowly in the window
Reminds me
of underwater algae
in a bedrock of basalt
What does this evoke. . .
some youthful convergence
upon a preseason beach
seaweed-wrapped ankle
tangled in a forest of green
Thick clouds meld into one another
barely discernable
Sudden wind rushes through limbs
just like that ocean tide
between sandy rivulets
~

I like the way the sense of anticipation is captured -- a sense of retrocausality in the air -- nice.

This is beautifully done, Ahavati. I felt really immersed in the scenery you’ve painted here.

Dear A,
Sure is great to see you. This has me reflecting on a picnic I once attended. I didn’t want to go. Ended up having the the best time. Your third stanza sparked the memory. Lovely piece. H🌷

Dear Ahavati,
Such a beautiful write. Yes, listlessly awaiting spring as well. I like the comparison of your feeling of the forest to a preseason beach. This brings back fond memories of the beach in the spring. Love it. Thank you for sharing:) Bless

Oh, how I’ve missed you, Aha! This was truly refreshing to read, a lyrical and enigmatic piece packed with strong imagery and a mystical atmosphere. I thought you’d departed these shores, so it’s lovely to see you back. Your poetry is like a guiding light in this place.

Oh my, I've been waiting for an Ahavati poem. Worth the wait, just like these spring days to come.

Summer, I'm sorry it's been so long, but this poem is perfectly visual...
Visual enough to wait for you.

For some reason this poem brought a sense of the bittersweet to my mind. I don't know the reason.
Beautiful images.
