a perfect moment

Perfect moments exist
on itchy grass
and a threadbare blanket
looking up at the stars
with you

We watch a meteor
fly past
see a helicopter buzz
overhead
temporarily disturbing
our tranquility

When it's gone
we count the stars
name the constellations
we remember
and lie comfortable
in each other's arms

For the first time
in a small forever
I feel peace
