Rewind
Another year rolls,
Sleigh bells chime,
Christmas bells toll.
I still see legends,
refusing to back down,
Storming lonely beaches,
Stubborn, Beautiful clowns.
The mirror is less kind these days,
It wrinkles, it greys, it deceives.
It shows deserted footprints fading,
my precious fleeting youth decaying,
Oh '90's kid, I miss your fearless heart,
Your flipping the bird,
Your machine gun mouth.
Another day dawns,
the eternal spin,
Groundhog day,
the entropic win,
I'll drown you with my honeyed words,
I'll duel to death with time,
Life in this old young dog,
the older the wine...
Another hour fades,
the world turns,
memories haze,
this dying world needs a hero,
Taxi-Driver-esque Robert De Niro?
The doubt? Yes, it consumes my mind,
In a world full of hate,
Who wouldn't choose to rewind?
The world needs a hero...
I doubt it will be me though.
Pick me up
and put me back,
The shelf is lonely
where I sat.
Dreams of '92,
Where I could be I,
And you could be you,
Those simple days,
Forgotten ways,
Where 1 was still 1
And 2 was still 2.
Today, words are now violence,
Lack of thought,
Lack of Science,
Where a pug straight arm salutes,
And all my god damn joys seem to pollute,
Take me back to way back when,
To rose-tinted times,
To where I still loved you...
Another hour fades,
The world turns,
Memories haze,
This dying world needs a hero,
Taxi-Driver-esque Robert De Niro?
The doubt? Yes, it consumes my mind,
In a world full of hate,
Who wouldn't choose to rewind?
The world still needs a hero...
Could it be WE though?
Storm the beach,
Break the line,
Who knows?
Maybe it will be different, this time!
