Time
Time.
Do you have any to spare?
Because I ain’t got none.
From the rising of the sun
Till the moment it’s gone
I ain’t got none.
Kids growing up too fast
Time is such a thief.
My baby girl is learning to walk
She’s not yet one,
I’m in such disbelief.
She was just cradled in my arms.
So small,
So dependent.
Every time she needed me,
I was in attendance.
Nuzzled in my bosom,
content while she nursed.
She’s outgrown my lap.
Damn how this hurts.
My sons,
becoming such young men.
I don’t think I’m ready,
To get my heart broken yet again.
Because soon enough
They will grow out of my reach.
They will go away from home
With only life choices to teach,
Them.
I know I gotta let them go,
I know I gotta let them grow,
But I’m not ready.
My heart shutters at the thought,
No more goodnight hugs,
Or kissing booboos when they fall down at the park.
Time.
Do you have any to spare?
Because I ain’t got none.
My oldest girl,
The mini version of me.
Life since you has been something.
Everything but boring
But you’ve got a good head on your shoulders
Above the world you’ll be soaring.
Beauty and brains
But that temper is explosive,
Sorry, you probably got that from me
It’s one quality I’d rather have kept to myself.
But that’s one thing,
When I look at you, I see myself.
So I find comfort in that
Knowing you’ll be okay.
All of my babies will make me proud one day.
Time.
Do you have any to spare?
Because I ain’t got none.
From the rising of the moon.
Till the moment it’s gone.
I ain’t got none.
