classic family of four --
They’re smiling aggressively
from the calendar on my door.  
 
Maybe it's your family
Playing nice over yams and pies
Smiles flashing manically
but never reaching the eyes  
 
Let's not bicker
Pour the liquor
Blood is thick  
the tensions thicker  
 
It's our own familiar brand of crazy
So we do whatever it takes

The mom looks fairly normal,
perhaps a little tired.
Her pretty smile is well-rehearsed;
she knows it is required.  
 
The dad has secrets in his grin;
his eyes are rather flirty.
I think he’s having thoughts about
the painter, and they’re dirty.

With one look at his sister,

That kid’s expression is psycho,
like a raving lunatic!
I think she’s giving her brother
a covert pinch or kick.

The only thing this family shares
is they’re all a little mad.
