Strike a Lighter
Arrived hand in hand
No standing in line
Got our backstage pass
Let’s make tonight last
No stadium seating
Outside beneath the stars
Music’s ready to start
We’re downing crown & coke
He steps a little closer
I’m moving a little slower
Nah we should go faster
Baby we should strike a lighter
He slides off his T-shirt and smiles
My baby’s a heartslayer
Yes - he took a stab at it
He runs to the mosh pit loves it
My baby’s a jawbreaker
Yes - he’ll take a jab at it
Rushes back to me just in time
Split bloody beautiful lips
Singing our songs
Shoulder shaking along
I’m stepping a little closer
He moves a little slower
Nah we should go faster
Baby we should Strike a Lighter
No standing in line
Got our backstage pass
Let’s make tonight last

Gawd, I love the energy in this! So vivid a write, too. You did a great job putting us there, too. Awesome stuff!
My first: Black Sabbath, ages ago. I was so frickin stoned (we were putting hash oil drops on our weed) that I didnt remember much. So we went two days later to another city, to see them again. I'm not real big fan of Ozzy, but their music is exactly my to to doom. Lol

Hey Styx:)
Well that's the first Gawd I've ever gotten so thank you!!! hahahaha
Glad you enjoyed it.
Aerosmith was awesome. I never knew Steven Tyler was actually that tall. LOL
Closing song was Train Kept a Rollin
Crowd went crazy!!
Got a contact buzz from all the weed being passed around.
Black Sabbath - I totally get it. LOL
Is it just me or does Ozzy sing better than he talks. I can understand his music lyrics but
when he talks I'm completely lost. Like "who's this"
You were so stoned you don't remember and hash oil. hahahah
You're a nut.

He talks like a bumbling idiot. He's toast. Lol.
But, in his defense, many many people with speech impediments (me included) don't screw up when they whisper, sing, etc. Regardless if it's from physical or mental trauma that induces it, when they try to speak "normally".
Because it's a different set of neurons that are firing in the brain when we talk, verses whisper and sing etc. Same engine, different firing order to the cylinders.
Because humans are only human after all. Sigh.
There's your science crap for the day. Lol

I would love to see Evanescence live. Her voice is so amazing!!
I'm jealous!!! So ready to be over this covid stuff. I want to live
and be around groups of people having a good time - like a concert.
Metric is going to be here on the 30th.
Can't make it though.
Freaking sucks!!!
But you have a great time and be careful in those mosh pits!!
Have a blast!!!!

For a segment of society much more is attached to a concert than just appreciating the artist. There is that desire to share something with other people in attendance. Music as you probably know is a conduit for connecting us. I always laugh when people tell me about going to see the Beatles. They all admit the music was barely audible.
I could give my thoughts about the violence but I am not sure this space would allow a fair dialogue. I will leave it at this- violence is very much a part of not only the history of the country but how children are socialized.

Hey Jazz:)
I totally agree,
Music connects people regardless of language as well.
At least for me anyway. I think it also has a lot to do with instruments.
Loving a certain sound or beat. Doesn't matter if you understand the words. Sometimes it's completely irrelevant.
I grew up around violence so I totally get what you're saying:)
Thanks for stopping by and dropping me a comment!!

Dear A,
The memories this brings of my first concert. The thrill. Such as it could be since my parents went with me 🙄
I really enjoyed the the atmosphere of your poem. The rhythm and heat were equally balanced and very palpable. I’ve never experienced a mosh pit. I can only imagine the frenzy of it.
I had fun remembering the concerts I went to, thanks for the memories. Trippy write😊.

Hi H:)
Yes, it was a fun first concert.
You're parents are totally coo!!
My parents wouldn't have taken me unless it was Spanish music.
They've taken me to a lot of dances but no concert. LOL
So glad I took you on a trip:)
You are too cool amiga!!!
Thanks for the RL and commenting!!

There's a really unique frenetic, low key erotic energy running through this, the hum and roar and violence you find not only in the music, but in the excited press of people. I love the jazzy way it unfolds.

Hey D
I'm so glad you picked up on that. A lot of craziness goes
down at concerts. hahahaha
I remember the energy of the whole experience.
The excitement of the first one - outside of my comfort zone.
Around people I don't know and just rolling with it.
Thanks for the RL and stopping by!!
Don't think I didn't notice that lighter buddy.
Perfect Avatar for this poem. hahahaha
I should have used it as my pic!!

That picture is like 10 years old I elbowed the keyboard while flicking the lighter and I liked the halo of flame light on my face. I'm much grayer now haha

I love the way this poem feels. There's a gritty, sexy feel to this. My first concert was Evanescence.

Love it, your energy is always so fun. And you always make me smile Adel.
I agree with the other comments... Also this definitely has a gritty sexy feel to me too.
And brings back memories of concerts which is great.
I remember the Reading festival in the UK... That was definitely something for a teenager. lol
Not going to say much more than that... Lots of amazing bands. And lots of trouble to get into.
This absolutely has an erotic feel, like you are dirty dancing. ;)
Both of you wanting to go faster. lol Of course you do.
Stab and jab... yeah... like I said... nevermind.
Split bloody beautiful lips, I found the bloody part interesting and sensuous.
Yeah, I think you are both the lighters...
And you are lighting the passion in each other... That's how to experience a concert.
And everything else too.

Hey Kristina!!
Thank you for picking up all the details in this.
The buzz in the air (outside of the pot LOL) was
so exciting. It was the first time I'd been to a concert and completely out of my comfort zone.
Just enjoying myself and heating things up. LOL
I'll never forget it.
The UK experience must have been great!!
I'd love all of the accents. LOL
So fancy schmancy:)
thanks for the RL and commenting amiga:)
