At This Very Moment...

 
Right now, some are at the brink of war
Others are on the edge of insanity
Many are at the risk of losing it all
And some still decide to show some compassion
     and humanity

Right now, somewhere off in the distance
A sun just exploded in the universe
A child dreams of becoming a star
Imaginations running rampant with possibilities
      naïve and unversed

Right now. two young lovers are waiting
With anticipation and eager hope
While another couple is in heartbreak
Coming to terms, coming to an end of a journey
      learning to cope

Right now, a girl cries quietly in her bedroom
A man drowns his tears in a bottle at a bar
Two people just became friends via a smile
While a dreamer is looking up at the night sky
      awaiting a shooting star

Right now, at this very moment somewhere
A woman is giving birth to a son
An old couple is walking in a distant beach
With cool waters and foamy sprays at their feet
     under a warm sun

Right now, a little boy is helping dig a well
A man is hailing a taxi cab in a busy street
A woman is sipping coffee in her kitchen
An old man is crying in his death bed remembering
     hit pause and repeat

Right now, friends are gathered having drinks
A girl is front of a mirror learning a dance
A worried mother just got a raise at work
While a man is thinking of a woman he met last week
     and wants to romance

Right now a baby just took a first step
A junkie put the needle down wanting to get better
A child with tears in their eyes is coming out
And somewhere an estranged son finally decided
     to send dad a letter

Many things that are just beginning
While for others they are coming to an end
But along with that also comes earnest hope
The promise of a new tomorrow brings absolution
     to make amends

Right now two people just fell in love
A family is crying tears that their a son is home
A girl dreams of putting stars in her wedding dress
And I hope at this very moment someone just smiled
     reading this poem
