This is an interesting take on the masculine,
feminine dynamic,
The feminine shields themselves and is coy
The masculine has to brave the thorns the traps, the tricks and offer up something of themselves for the reward,
A troupe as old as time.

I'm glad the metaphor translated and you found it of interest.
In my mind, I was thinking less feminine traps or tricks and more self security and protection. (yes, I have those damn walls built!!) ... Wondering if there would ever be anyone willing or wanting to bleed for her... or something like that.... being the goth romantic that I am.....hahaha
It's basically the same I realize, my thoughts are just less hard and slightly more pathetic, I guess... lol.. 😏

Traps, tricks, walls, all in my mind similar feminine metaphors,
walls and guarding is probably a better realisation of my thought,
However they in my mind remain the same concept,
The masculine has to be willing to risk and sacrifice to get past the walls to be able to reach the beating heart of the feminine.
There’s plenty willing and wanting, but you asked the question….
Are they worthy?
How much blood are they willing to spill to get to the core….
It’s the dance
the driver and motivation
of sex
of status
of what we are as humans….
It is the dark curled desire beating behind the thorns
the fragility that is there
willing to open
wanting to open
almost pleading
that some one be worthy
to tear open their own flesh to reach the core of who and what the feminine is….

I admit, I do love where your mind takes you... if only my own internal impetus was as deep and as requiring.... alas, I'm simpler and far less poetic...*sigh... Hahaha.
I wasn't negating your own thoughts /headspace, just clarifying my own. My personal reality is, as a woman- I've seen and experienced how we can get an enormously bad wrap, when we are simply trying to be careful and cautious. I personally feel that there's a huge difference between trying to trap and trick someone intentionally vs protecting myself from getting hurt and being wary and honest because of that. It's about truthfulness and decent character and maybe goes to the heart of the individual.
Gender wasn't in my thoughts and isn't a huge concern, as I am fluid there.. Being attracted to the individual, and having hope that a special person finds their way to lower my defenses...perhaps trusting someone enough to offer navigation past that built up thorny exterior....
Yes, I did ask the question...I am deeply grateful for the additional ponder, in your response, there.
and btw, I sincerely don't mean to be contrary.... I know your feedback comes from a good place as does my interaction with it.... No hurt feelings or misunderstandings from me.
So let me say, it really all boils down to me absolutely agreeing with your 'are they worthy?'... (because, yeah... that's the real meat and potatoes!)

Gendering it is more to do with the conceptualisation of my thoughts, even in plants female plants have a feminine trait being selective in how they’re pollinated so intelligence and choice isn’t a factor it seems to be a natural law…..
Women can be masculine
Men can be feminine
The sex of the individual is different from the gendered perspective so it falls in line that a man may have the same types of defence mechanisms that branch into the feminine spectrum of action.
The bad rap is in my experience from people that don’t understand why women have to be and are in general more cautious than men, and more selective.
Sex has more consequences for a woman, men can walk away
If there is pregnancy a woman aside from abortion or adoption can not.
Men tend on average to be %30 stronger than women because testosterone
Women to be smaller and significantly less explosive
Biological facts that make the world on average more dangerous for a woman…
I’m 6ft 2
290lbs
I walk around every day knowing that there are few men that stand a chance with me in a fight and significantly less women because of my lifestyle, training and physical strength

When I say traps and tricks they also fall under defensive walls,
But women tend to use verbal traps as a way of ruling out a potential partner because the potential partner is not sophisticated enough to pass these “tests” Getting past linguistic traps is a sign of intelligence, intelligence is sexy, is desirable and helpful in a partner.
tricks tend to be in the form of saying a soft no, to see if a potential partner understands the work they have to put in and is willing to do so,
A soft no is complex as hell to play with but I digress too much going there…
“truthfulness and decent character and maybe goes to the heart of the individual.”
These are the other reasons for testing an individual and should be a staple of human interaction.

Sometimes it’s the only way to change our own thinking or in the process illuminate something unseen for someone else.

of the rose is purely an awareness of its thorns...
Nice word choice on "cunning"...
It further surfaces the idea of a rose
having consciousness...
I also like the similarity to the word: cutting.
Creates and almost optical illusion,
that promotes deeper thinking...
And then...
Is your blood worthy?
Like pain as a truth teller.
And... Rose as conscious entity.
Sources of pain as conscious entities...
Knowing you better than you
know yourself...
Waiting to teach you about yourself....

Yes, 'thorn' is this months haiku theme, so I'm glad that came across without me actually saying 'thorn' which is what I was hoping to accomplish...
It's often one or two 'juicy' words that I know that I can be attracted by, so I love that cunning spoke to you in the way that it did for me too!!
The metaphor, in my mind was personifying the rose as a symbol for my own self protection and search of a willing soul .. I love your thoughts, though... of the rose having a conscious mind... and how killer that wouldbe in expanding the metaphor even further.... beyond my own petty internal struggles.... that's too too cool...what an inspired thought... wow!
Pain is intricate and can 100% be a teacher of many many things... both good and bad....the value of possibly penetrating that or even better... Ascension... ascending to a higher plane all together.... mind blowing... 🤯

Wow... those lyrics are totally apropos!! I never looked at it like that before, but it is kinda like the blues, innit!?.... Clever thought process, Marks. I like that a lot. I love Joe Cocker's voice, there's such substance and heart in that gravely grit.
