apollo

86 degrees and sunny
wind gusts of 30mph
tornado watch and storms possible after 3pm
no rain falls today, which is nice
and the wind is loud, loud in my ears
I race along the road, 2 horsepower beneath me
my tiny chariot of the sun
racing the clouds’ shadows as they pull away
farther and farther forward
just out of range
and I feel the sweet perfume of the apple blossoms across my face,
and gravity leaches into me
as I lean into a turn
it is delicate,
the gyroscope on the string
I am not slowing down
I am speeding up
