2022

Maybe it’s a bit
Over exaggerated
To say I felt like I was bleeding out
Across the deck
Down the steps
Leaving stains as I went
As I wept
And the only thing that I could see
Was the fire in your eyes
Your hand on your weapon
But maybe it needs to be
Exaggerated
So that you get my point
I know, you felt like that too
So
Maybe you already get it
But you cleaned up your own stains
With anger
And you smeared mine
Along with my name
Trying to turn friends against me
Coworkers too
My heart fell out somewhere
I don’t know where
And in its place you stabbed a rose
Look, I bought you this
It makes it all ok right?
No
Then you followed the blood trail
That you made
Touching it, making sure
It was fresh
Wildly flashing lights
And throwing words like javelins
You followed me
Stalked me
Scared me
And you wouldn’t stop
So I had you blocked
But you found your way around
Anyway
Switching to poison tipped darts
Taking careful aim
Piercing my nights
So all I could do was cry with no lights
In the dark
Alone
So the five year old wouldn’t hear me
And because I wouldn’t let you
inside of me
You wouldn’t let me
inside the house
To get my things
To get my cat
And you made demands
That ripped my thoughts
Shredding my body on the way down
And then
Then
You left out something that could harm
Something you knew would raise alarms
Detrimental
To my health
My sanity
And said I was wasting time
But I was moving slow
So I could breathe
And I think about it
And I wonder
Why the cameras
Why was it always cameras
On the driveway
In the garage
In the bedroom
While I slept
And why did you just toss
All my things aside
And throw in some trash
That you didn’t even try to hide
What happened to the real you
The you that would never
Be vindictive
The you that would never
Throw me under the bus
Stab my heart
With a rose
