Villanelle Nr.21 — Advice to a Budding Tyrant

    
In order to control the masses tight    
invent a myth they’re crap, and born in sin    
add violence to the mix, for might is right    
   
And that’s the constant fundamental fight    
to make your story stick above the din …    
it orders the control of people tight    
   
And once the story settles, feeling ‘right’    
you shape its course to show you always win    
the reset flows from there for might is right    
   
It’s good to hide the lies right out of sight,    
use psycho-moves to hype the max and min    
exacting strict control of people tight    
   
A healthy dose of fear and guilt and fright    
will keep them working hard to save their skin —    
the rest will flow from there, for might is right    
   
So fix the narrative as “endless plight”    
it trains their minds to take it on the chin;    
in order to control the masses tight    
top up with ruthlessness, for might is right.
