Rain

I habitually wait for the rain
When the ground gives off that smell,
I always rush home to prepare
For what I must purify.
Then it comes, pouring
I step out and let it soothe sorrow
Engulf my tears
While thunder swallows screams
Wash away what I could not
Quench the dryness of this heart
And bring back life to what has died
Remind me, as you drizzle away
That storms bring with them a rainbow.

Author's Note
In Ancient African culture, rain is a good omen or blessing, and can be interpreted as a message from ancestors. I don't feel any sort of message but the rain brings healing to me that is all-consuming and comforting. Helps me see positive in life.
