White wings fluttering
As I keep you warm
My love surrending you
On your journey through life
Don't be sad dear mother
Don't you know I will be with you
Through all the hard times
Through all those dark clouds
Floating on little white wings
My heavenly father has blessed me with
Please don't shed a tear for me dear mother
Feel me as you smile
When you feel down
Let my love embrace you
Keep you safe
Feel me my dearest mother
Let me take the burden from your mind and body
Let me wipe those tears away
My dear mother
Know that I will never leave you My dear mother

This I wrote for my partner. She lost her daughter 26 months old, 20 years ago and has never fully come to terms with it or all the other issues around it

As a parent myself that has to be a nightmare.
You both are very lucky to have each other with something that heavy.

Yes, this is a nightmare that never goes away for her. It's much worse around anniversary times.
But there are everyday little things that are reminders, one of them is white butterflies.

I think that his was such a pure act of altruistic love for your partner, dear WM.... I'm totally and completely moved to pieces by it.
I'm not a mother, nor will I ever be fortunate enough to be one, sadly. However, I can deeply empathize with that type of inexplicable pain your Author's note describes.
My family (of course my sister and her husband especially) was totally decimated by the death of my 20 month old nephew, my sister's son. It will be 21 years ago this May since his passing, yet it still pierces my heart with a true searing pain. He was so so deeply loved, named after my dad, who's since passed as well. I take a tiny bit of comfort thinking that they have each other in wherever or whatever plane of existence they may have moved onto...
It's loss like this that feels absolutely unbearable without any rhyme or reason, which can completely hobble. I understand the fortitude of pure will to pull one's self away from a scary precipice, and doing one's best to try to move on and heal as much as possible. Not forgetting... Never being the same but functioning and from functioning, finally (hopefully) finding a small sense of peace... Without a doubt forever life changing.
Thank you for sharing this write with us, it meant reliving harsh memories but also the truly beautiful and happy ones, too.

Those two babies were practically the same age, I, too am sorry for you and your family's loss. You have my sympathies too for your father.
I lost my mother when I was 16 and my father when I was 25. I don't remember much of my mother, by the time my father passed I was well and truly on that slippery slope to hell. Truly wish I could go back and change things.
Funny thing is, as my better half is a Yank from Pittsburg, it's conceivable that your paths crossed, but unlikely, stiil, for me, not knowing your location, all is possible :).
14th of Feb will always be a date I hate. My nephew in his early 30's died of cancer 2010.
Im sorry Blue, probably not something I should talk about.
