Something I wish I could tell you
There are some things I want to say to you
Just, you know, a few things.
Not many.
I can’t say any of them
Out loud
To anyone
Not yet, anyway.
Secrets
That should be kept
Out of mind
Out of sight
Else they become evidence
Of my betrayal
Tonight I am safe
I own these thoughts
No one can censor them
No one can judge me
No one can take the words
Off
This
Page
So I’m telling this keyboard
And this screen
And this empty room
And the silent space within it
The whole explanation is laid bare in my mind
I am screaming the words
I am hurling rocks
I am howling
I let it go
Not sure which direction
It will take
I am watching it disappear
Into the night
But I can still see it
Just, you know, a few things.
Not many.
I can’t say any of them
Out loud
To anyone
Not yet, anyway.
Secrets
That should be kept
Out of mind
Out of sight
Else they become evidence
Of my betrayal
Tonight I am safe
I own these thoughts
No one can censor them
No one can judge me
No one can take the words
