Tribeca Love Dance 1977 on the way to the Mudd Club
You had to be there
You probably weren't
Twin Towers still standing
Long before Halal wars
City was broken
Broke too
77 White Street
Around the corner
Dave's Luncheonette
I had just moved into the city
In love with a married woman
Didn't end well
That night however
King of New York
Later dubbed Mr. Manhattan
Fast forward
This ain't no party
This ain't no disco
Ain't got time for that now
You probably weren't
Twin Towers still standing
Long before Halal wars
City was broken
Broke too
77 White Street
Around the corner
Dave's Luncheonette
I had just moved into the city
In love with a married woman

Actually Dave's was about 3 blocks away from the Mudd Club
Dave's was on Canal Street and the Mudd Club real close
I saw Talking Heads at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium one August night in the 1980s. They played Burning Down the House twice...
Never saw a band do that before ...
Iconic...

Fillmore East
2nd Avenue and 6th Street

McSorely's is still there
Believe if or not I've never been there
Do you remember the Scorpian Bar on East 14Th between
Avenue B and C ? A bucket of blood as we used to say ...

The Ear Inn was a mainstay, far west 9n Spring Street
They had open mic poetry nights but I wasn't a poet then
Lots of others too
I still like to get a burger and a black and tan at at Finnegan's Wake on 73rd and 1st. Great old pub and good vibes.

It sounded more like a 9th Avenue job
Now I remember seeing it but never there
Do you remember Angelo's Pizza on 56th and 9Th
Total hole in the wall with the best pizza in NYC
Gone for 15 years probably but ate a lot of pizza there
Served rot gut red wine in water glasses
Hot waitress with phenomenal tits didn't hurt either

This thread of comments was almost as fun as the poem & art. 😍 Small town Canadian here, living vicariously through your memories.... I could have gotten into so much trouble there.
