I Went to see a Customer

It had been 18 months
He was out with surgery
Frigging pandemic too
He asked me to come
When I greet men
It's usually an elbow bump
Today we shook hands
We toured his shop
Did our business
Made a list
Then talked some
It was then time for me to leave
I don't think he wanted me to go
It was an emotional moment
Sales calls are rarely emotional
This one stayed with me

Author's Note
My job is outside sales and making relationships. I have many years with a lot of my customers. Sometimes a sales call is not about what I sell.  It's about life and connection.  I value that ....
