song of the mockingbird
it's
unequivocal
where the past
left
it's deep
traumatic
scars
.
.
.
.
like neon
flashing—
highlighting
a marquee
advertising
the pain.

Without a doubt, Tim .... It seeps into everything.
Becoming a defining motivating factor (consciously or subconsciously) for a bulk of actions and behaviors....
From what I have witnessed.
Thanks for your thoughtful insight.... it's appreciated.

Dearest, Lady Blue
It's so true that evidence of past or present paIn is hard to hide. I choose to observe my scars as badges of honor signifying that I I endured even conquered trials in life. Bravissima, lovely BB🐻💞🐰

Hey there, BB! - 🐻 💕🐰
I think you tackling your pain head on like that, is really healthy and a wonderful way to ensure that pain doesn't control you and that you're in charge, solely.
The alternative is palpable, in the harm that harboring it and letting fester and define, causes
Thanks for the deep insightfulness and the generosity of your visit.
I am so very happy to see you 🦋
Much love and respect,

They're more likely to be extremely protective and LOUD as hell. I've seen them dive bomb cats and squirrels, under the guise of protecting their nest, but I think they're just programed that way.... lol.... (I tease.. )
Ohh, thanks so much, Lawrence.
I appreciate your nice compliment.
Thanks for stopping by and for leaving me your thoughts, I'm so appreciative 🙏🏻

This is quite beautiful, B.
Advertising the pain...
In part, this piece made me think of our self perception vs how the world perceives us, where, what we see as neon, the world may not see at all...
but then... I think of how like attracts like... and if we are in pain, perhaps we attract those also in pain...
So from that stand point, the neon advertising in an unseen manner, to others like us...
As I tend to view the broken as the more evolved, there is that aspect as well... Where such an advertisement would attract move evolved individuals... (that would depend entirely on the present state perhaps.)
On another level... I thought of the advertisement as an advertisement to the soul that is a lover of the pain.
Of which I think I may be one?
I think I love my pain?
I mean... Who would I be without it?
I think the pain is part of the humanity... or perhaps I have had the pain so long that it feels inherent to being human?
Nevertheless...
A cool, thought provoking write.

Deep dark pain (that's not addressed correctly) is usually (or potentially) a motivating factor in self destruction, self absorption or other self harming behaviors that leave indelible marks, mentally sometimes physically, too.
I was thinking about the process of qualifying /quantifying today's behaviors by the way of yesteryears scars.
The definitive reason(s) behind why certain people act certain ways, I guess......
Your thoughts are so terrific and wholly appreciated... I love those impactful emotions and the lightning bolt like inspiration... That's truly cool.
I appreciate you reading, the chat and your generous nature, my dear poet.
Damn, I'm lucky.

Hey there, Darkwords
I am so very appreciative of your thoughts and kindness, shown. Yes, our scars definitely can define.... to me, it was more about, to what extent that is the case..... 🤷🏻♀️... I'm still pondering that....
You're compliment is very sweet, I humbly thank you....Your visits upon my page make for a lovely addition and I hope to see you again, soon.
Warmest regards,

Or we advertise our pain in patently destructible ways, because the scars are that deep and truly damaging....
Dang, cs.... I really truly love your visits and the thought processes you so generously bestow...
It's an enormous pleasure ✨
Thanks, my friend 🙏🏻

It might lessen, I believe... but yes, scars remain.

Wow !... I love all the verses.
My favorite ones:
" ... like neon flashing— highlighting a marquee ...
advertising ... ... " (advertising; just like a TV commercial)
... 😍🎼🎬👍

Just as tendons and ligaments hold our bones together so do our scars from pain hold our souls together. Tough and sinuous, they build walls around our hearts, isolating us and cutting us off from the love. To feel love again demands we pass through the gauntlet of our painful scars as they cut and slash, drawing the blood of our souls that dissolves the walls and sets of free.
This is a sublime write that empowers me to continue fighting the gauntlet. Peace.

I wish you were still around, activated, and not just additional scar tissue... that hardens against a heart's abilities to function.... I feel like I could become lost in my inflexibility...
fuck, I hate still being so angry .... sometimes the unfairness is such fucking bullshit, that I can barely breathe
and yes, I miss you.... I am glutton for punishment....
*sigh
