The Beating Drum
We must adapt & overcome the humdrum beating inside
Letting no one or anything cause thoughts of suicide
It's cold outside, even in July, when sunshines plentiful
During bumpy rides we must rely on routes that are beautiful
Bountiful with picturesque scenes that are rarely seen
Journeying through muddy waters before ones clean
As we glean the means for persevering dark times
After witnessing an array of things that're heinous crimes

The contrast of July sunshine and darkness was effective. Some of your rhymes flow well too. I’d like to see a bit more solid imagery, as I think that would accentuate your message, by giving the reader more of a picture. JMHO.

Lots of metaphor, but plenty of solid advice. Life presses in on us all and it is sometimes hard to not implode
