Anger and Wrath
We talked about the seven deadly sins
And he said he prefers and likes wrath
I felt a heavy heart trying to explain
That “it only leads down a darker path”
He said “…watch out, don’t to cross me”
Sounding like someone I used to know
He has yet to experience adversities
After all that’s the only way to grow
He is still young and has much to learn
The anger he feels will take long to subside
Life is a journey with many roads
And some can have serious landslides
I told him “You don’t gain anything from it
It eats you up and leaves an empty whole”
Then again, time is the best teacher
And in many years, he’ll feel it in his soul
I’m just an old man giving advice to his son
When his heart feels like it’s been destroyed
So I talk of forgiveness, letting go and moving on
Because in the end anger only leaves a void
