WHY I APPRECIATE POETRY

I have been asked many times,
"Why do you read poetry?"
"Why do you like poetry?"
The answer is simple and
involves many reasons:
I appreciate poetry
BECAUSE
...it stimulates my mind,
...it introduces me to new vistas,
...it helps me appreciate poets,
...it helps me to dare and write a poem too.
...it helps me raise new and challenging questions,
...it sometimes helps me make new friends,
...it doesn't take hard work to read a poem,
...it sometimes creates new and unusual desires,
...it makes the world more beautiful,
...it causes me to admire hard work and talent,
...it allows me to share something new,
...it encourages me to write poetry,
Yes, I not only appreciate poetry,
I love it, drink it, sleep it, and
dare to explore it. It is my world,
a world I own and can explore.
