SEARCHING FOR A BONE
DESCRIPTION.
As we sat nursing our
drinks but feeling the buzz.
We shared the regular
stats and vets with each other.
In a slur, my new drinking partner
said he wanted to share a
secret with me. I was all ears.
He proceeded to ask, "Have
you ever heard the old saying,
"He's/she's like a dog on a bone,
meaning he won't let go?"
Yes, I replied hundreds of times.
"Well," he proceeded, "I'm like
a dog searching for a bone."
Tell me more. He replied with a smile,
"I have a deep desire to
find a bone no matter where or
how big or small. To cast my
eyes on it, to imagine the
feel, taste, juiciness, dryness;
to take time to devour it,
just as long it is a real bone
not an artificial one."
Looking me intently in the eyes
with a smile, he asked,
"Do you know where I can
find such a bone? Wouldn't
you like a nice bone too?"
That set me back! Was he
speaking in metaphors or
about a real animal--a dog?
When he reached down
and gently rubbed my leg
with a big mile. I replied,
"Please excuse me I have to
go and check on a bone
for my hungry dog."
He replied back, "I have one
and am willing to share."
We both froze! Had we both
found bones.
