HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

HISTORY

The celebrating of Mother's Day
can be traced back to ancient Greece
and the celebration of the Goddess Rhea;
made popular in the U.S.A back in 1868,
signed as a national day of observance
back in 1914 by President Wilson.

I can't speak for anyone else
relative to  honoring mothers;
sadly some hate their mothers,
some have sad memories,
and millions worship, adore,
love and respect their mother.

Regardless, we all have one
thing in common: We were
birth from a mother. How things
have been after that is one's
personal history.

I write on behalf of
no one but myself!

I miss my mother who went
to the gates of death to give
me birth and protection. She
wasn't perfect but would be
the first to admit it. Her
rules weren't understood
until I was older; more today
than ever.

She sacrificed to give me
the best she could, never
complaining but always with
the encouraging words of
"Yes, you can."
I placed flowers on
her grave yesterday;
wishing I had given her
more when she was alive.

Author's Note
Like most, I have had my mother in my thoughts more recently than a few days ago. I miss her and her wisdom and hugs.
