The Airport in Oregon
the very first time
I witnessed the dawn,
it was on the rise
from beneath
the evergreen knit
of his jacket;
I must have said something
that reminded him
of the importance of this moment,
of its bliss for ever having
happened at all;
his smile became the sunrise,
bright and glorious
with the promise
of new beginnings;
looking back
over his shoulder,
I found his eyes
searching ~
pine and moss,
earth and sunlight, reflected ~
rooting me to this moment
and to him
