Dark day
I awoke to a sunny room
But it didn't shine for me
The birds sang their sweet morning tune
But they didn't sing for me
Strangers smiled and spoke hellos
But no one spoke to me
Artists spread their cheer in lively yellow
But they didn't paint for me
I'm heading down a deep hole
My heart's in a bad place
It's beauty for all others
But for me it's a dark day
But it didn't shine for me

Dear KM,
You write so eloquently of those feelings of isolation and feeling overlooked. I think we’ve all experienced this at one time or another and your images of viewing the world around us as happy and enthusiastic with joy while inside we’re in the complete opposite place is spot on. Depression is a tough subject to comment on for me but I’m really grateful for the poem because it doesn’t feel so lonely. Cheers to us all for brighter days ahead. H🌷
