Deep, Dark Woods
I once went walking in the deep, dark woods
I got so lost I thought for good
There were wild growls in the night
They gave me such a terrible fright
Until I realized it wasn’t an animal after all
It was me giving that wild, anguished call
The thought of that frightened me more
Than anything ever had before
I didn’t know I was in such pain
Perhaps I’d even gone a little insane
I ran and scrambled through the brush
The air evaporated-a silent hush
I ran further still and an owl called my name
And I knew there was no need for shame
The rolling river cleansed my soul
And saved me from my emotional toll
Suddenly sunrise came
I understood I was not to blame
I once went walking in the deep, dark woods
I survived the night, I didn’t think I could
I got so lost I thought for good
There were wild growls in the night
They gave me such a terrible fright
Until I realized it wasn’t an animal after all
It was me giving that wild, anguished call
The thought of that frightened me more
Than anything ever had before
I didn’t know I was in such pain
Perhaps I’d even gone a little insane
I ran and scrambled through the brush
The air evaporated-a silent hush
I ran further still and an owl called my name
And I knew there was no need for shame
The rolling river cleansed my soul
And saved me from my emotional toll
Suddenly sunrise came
I understood I was not to blame
I once went walking in the deep, dark woods
I survived the night, I didn’t think I could
