Dream 2-24-21

Dream 2-24-21

Dreamed last night that for the second time in my life I set out for a large city to make my fortune or at least get a job. This time I headed to San Francisco to stay with my cousin who still lived in an apartment with his wife there. But I got homesick as I wandered the parks of the city feeling very much alone. On my walk back to my cousin’s apartment I ran into his roommate who looked like a punk rocker. He was concerned that I would stick them for my part of the rent. I figured I could put fifty dollars toward it which would be a pittance portion. When I got back dinner was being served and an old southern lady invited herself to partake of our feast. I pointed out that the Bible said to share and share-alike. She quoted Jesus “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.” Luke 1:37 ESV. After dinner, the old lady was fascinated by my cousin’s collection of translations from the Egyptian hieroglyphics. Finally, I hopped a plane back to Baton Rouge. I looked into working for wildlife and fisheries counting egrets outside of New Orleans. But there were alligators all over. So finally I ended up back in Natchez in the back seat of the car while my grandmother drove me around. I asked her if she was glad to see me and she said yes but that she hopes I find work somewhere. But the prospect of Grandma’s French toast made sweet the bitter herbs of falling short in life’s wild gambit.
