Pierced Heart
Mine heart be pierced
were it not so loved;
or doth receive
every light from above.
To he whom knows
it shines so rare;
where full it grows
in want so bare.
Yet not without,
and still within;
a regale beats
'ere light grows dim.
Let one light rise
to beam upon
whose heart believes
in weak made strong.
And lo, a song;
an anthem's refrain --
the mystery of dark
wherefrom I call your name.
.....

every light from above.
To he whom knows

where full it grows
in want so bare.
Yet not without,
and still within;

'ere light grows dim.
Let one light rise
to beam upon
whose heart believes
in weak made strong.
And lo, a song;
an anthem's refrain --
the mystery of dark
wherefrom I call your name.

Author's Note
Inspired by 'Valentine plants', Anthuriums (I just added another one to my collection). They are the world's longest blooming plant and the flowers resemble a heart with a spike through it.

The poem is just beautiful. I must have one of those plants.
When I first saw this I thought, Wow! My Peace Lily's are blooming right now too!

They sell these plants around Valentine's Day at plant stores, you might be able to still get one, Stop and Shop has them. It's an epiphyte, meaning they grow on tree bark like orchids but they survive much better than orchids on a windowsill. They also come in many colors besides red hues. Glad you liked it, thanks for the RL add :) 💜

I did try to convey that pureness of an innocent heart unpierced, or one pierced for the first time by Cupid's arrow, that's a great comment, I'm so glad you liked it, thanks so much 💝

This reads Old School! Like in the days of Yeats.Or when flowers and chocolate weren't invented yet, so the man would give the woman a washing machine for Valentines and she would give him a rolling pin upside the head.
I before E except after C in Line Three.

Re: Re. Pierced Heart
I was thinking of Yeats and Byron when I wrote this, I wanted it to be a little haunting like a voice from the past or the grave reaching out, or even a vampire. It is curious to wonder what Valentine's Day could have been like before commercialism. Maybe people chiseled hearts on trees. Thanks for the comment, I fixed the mistake I always seem to make :)💝

It feels like a person belonging to the shadows watching someone from a distance professing their love. It's like this beautiful black and white imagery you know, why just the red highlighted. This is pretty wicked.
