That you will dream
Hopeful like the maiden
Virgin like the child
Brilliant as the snow
Warm by the fire
That you will learn
All there is to know
In a quiet hollow
Beneath a dome of soul
Not bricks, asphalt, and wire
Through this realm
Of heaven versus hell
The eternal swell
To see the tide from the other side
And swim, swim, swim.

Written for my niece, who lives every day of her life, is responsible, and happy. She has risen far above what she saw growing up. I am so proud; it could have easily gone the other way.

The second verse is my favourite. I like how it uses physical terms (dome, beneath) to evoke a metaphorical place. The last line of the third verse ties the poem up nicely.
