Doppelganger
I slowly release a wreath of delicate white lilies
Down the river of oblivion, under the melting clouds
But if you forget about the pain even for a little while
I will put a sparkling scalpel into your weak fingers
In order for the sobering cold to penetrate your sultry dreams
I will make you walk barefoot in the cold
And if you get tired of making dead loops in the sky,
Do you want warmth and peace, simple human joys,
I'll push you to the edge of the abyss and then I'll hold you
And I will laugh for a long time at your worthless weakness
In order for all your fears to come closer and manifest
So that your feelings are not dulled
And if you begin to cling to the thin stems of hope
I will become a cruel wind, water eroding roots
And I crawl into your warm heart, warmed by faith,
a slippery cold snake,
To remind you of the sweet smell of death,
of the eternal pain of birth,
And that all happiness does not last more than a moment
When you realize everything and want to drive me away
Get rid of the endless war with your own shadow
I'll be innocent again, I'll be you again
And together we will believe in short happy moments
But somewhere a scalpel is already raised over the tenderness
of virgin lilies,
So that your feelings are not dulled
Down the river of oblivion, under the melting clouds
But if you forget about the pain even for a little while
I will put a sparkling scalpel into your weak fingers
In order for the sobering cold to penetrate your sultry dreams

Thank you for the comment I_IS_ME and I like beautifully dark. I am definitely feeling the darker influence in writing recently and I guess that does fit the season. 💖

Hullo
pretty intense, lady. I like the way you've tackled
this, that's to say the angle you took. I wondered if the two "suddenly" were needed,
I like you're exploring a darker type poem and to be fair you've handled it very well
good stuff, Lady
well done

Thank you lepperochan, you make a good point and I think you are right about the "suddenly". I appreciate the advice and the compliment. I will likely post more dark ones. 💖

Can't get the shimmering scalpel out of my head and what kinda trauma it will cause when it falls. Although scalpels at associated surgery which is ostensibly for the health of the patient. So maybe the cuts are necessary to save. How his poem illustrates that we all have a dark or light doppelganger a white hat and a black hat is a concept worth pondering. And that the dark serves to keep us real. Bravissima, Dear BD! <3<3

Thanks GW, yes, we all have dark and light. Sometimes the darkness really does cut at the light piece by piece. "And the dark serves to keep us real" and it certainly does make us feel deeply. 💖

I don't think I'd trade that deep thought either. I love your deep thoughts.

Well rendered, with poignant detail, this dichotomy of self. In spiritualism, this would be called shadow work, confronting the darkness, pain, fear and doubt, so that it can move through you, rather than stagnate. Really raw and powerful work.

Thanks Daniel, as usual you have provided a deep and meaningful interpretation that I really appreciate a lot. I guess I have been
doing some shadow work lately. I consider that you found it raw and powerful a great compliment. 💖

I like the switching between beauty and darkness, going back and forth fluidly. It drew me only to be met with dread.
Great work.
Great work.

Dear K,
What I adore reading this poem is the visual of an angelic narrator with a soft sweet voice guiding me through these devilish situations. It’s a fantastic write really delving into both sides of life’s most complicated worlds of light and dark. You’ve written this so brilliantly because while it’s scary (because in one way or another we’ve all been there) it’s not spooky. It’s a representation, for me anyway, of life’s disappointments and coping with them. Super write. H🌷

I do love 'subzero Xacto knife of a masterpiece' :) Your take is one interpretation although the one I had in mind, Doppelganger being a person's identical double and paranormal phenomenon bringing bad luck; I was speaking from the perspective of fighting with one's own demons. Thank you so much for the comment and the warning of evisceration by a southern girl scorned is great. ;) 💖

Oh this is a superb piece of poetry Kristina...the existential darkness that we all must continually pass through is captured in each line my friend. Bravo!!!

Ah yes! there is a lot of imagery in this one and meanings as well. I have so many moods and I think my style often changes perhaps from chaotic and confusing to possibly even poetic. ;) But hey maybe that will keep you interested. ;) Thanks so much for the comment and sharing your thoughts with me.
