Terzanelle Nr.04 — Beautiful Planet
A beautiful planet, blue and green
attracted envy of a crew
of scaly aliens, rarely seen
They chose some special gofers too
to carry out their evil plan
and charmed them as their favoured crew
They said as gods, the soul of Man
belongs to us - we shall enforce
compliance with our evil plan
So narratives were primed in morse
to infiltrate unguarded minds
by using lies…, deception…, force
Yet love is marked by acting kind
confirms a truth “all shall be well”
and calms the lost unguarded mind
A Paradise turned into hell?
A beautiful planet, blue and green
a hidden truth “all shall be well”
and scaly aliens, rarely seen.

Author's Note
1).This is a “Terzanelle” poem, a combination of a villanelle with the Terza Rima (both of Italian origin), a form first established by Lewis Turco in 1965 with his poem “Terzanelle in Thunderweather”.
2). Juliana of Norwich, English Anchoress/mystic (1343-1416+). As the story goes, she recorded these words of Jesus, in the 13th of 16 visionary encounters: “It was necessary that there should be sin; but all shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well.”

We made a mess of it, methinks. Easy to blame aliens, unless I am missing a huge point.

Not missing the point at all, Robert. Which is more scary -- unseen subversive aliens pulling the strings, or humans gone psychotically awol?

First, I love this form, you're an absolute master of it. Secondly, the content isn't as far off as one might believe.
I feel like words with certain definitions have been assigned to evoke uncomfortable emotions in humans by man, i.e. - reptilians, aliens, et al. I lump and consider it all negative energy defined by subversive or overt actions. The word God, diety, and so forth also evoke emotions in humans. The only difference in the two is that the former typically creates uneasy feelings vs the latter, which creates comfort in those who are religious.
These definitions have been ingrained by our environments since the conception of our living awareness, thus follows our lives to the end. I believe everything will work out in the end, but I am an eternal optimist. I believe each human being has an opportunity to learn the truth of things for themselves by following their intuition, not thoughts nor heart; but, intuition. Intuition is the only compass that is not manmade from the gears of an organ within us.
It's pure energy and who we truly are as a species inhabiting a human body.
I loved this poem for the formerly mentioned, but also because it provides an opportunity to contemplate ourselves. Thanks for sharing, Josh.

Thank you for your interesting comment, Ahavati. My comment above to Robert is one aspect; for me, humans on their own in charge who have gone psychotically awol is scarier than reptilian aliens pulling the strings from behind.
With ref to intuition, Veronika has published a book on human consciousness that maps "eight organs of consciousness"; in order: Will, Soul, Inspiration, Intuition, Imagination, Instinct, Intellect, Body-mind. They work as a team, 4 female energies, 4 male. It's called "The Solo System, Vol: 1 -- The Atlas". You can find it on Amazon here:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Solo-System-Vol-Atlas-ebook/dp/B00NI1KTNG/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=veronika+Bond&qid=1600709290&s=books&sr=1-10
There are also 8 slim workbooks for the 8 'organs', one of which of course is on the Intuition. I think she would say the Intuition plays a key role in guidance (compass), and we need to learn to distinguish it from the Instinct and understand its 'team-role' with the others.
I am glad you liked the poem. There are so many differing ways to "explain the world", I get lost -- so I try and focus on creativity as a legitimate response to it all. I feel the world has become more uglified in my life-time and sense more and more my job is to "add beauty".

Josh, I plan on ordering this. Since Veronika is a member of DU, why not lets list her publications in the DU author's thread?

She'll be happy to have another customer, thank you; Amazon seems to have increased the price independently of her wishes but there you go.
Her publications are not poetry but I think that's the same with some others too on the Published Authors Page ... I've just asked her; she's o.k with that. I see your last posting on DUP Published Authors Page said "Authors wanted!". Do you post it? (in which case I'll send you a list you can copy and paste in) or does she do it?

I would prefer you or she post it; then I can copy/paste into the Author's index on page one!
I have the Atlas and Intuition in my cart. There are so MANY! Like the workbook, introduction, et al. I almost didn't know where to start. So you might want to clarify that in your post.

Profound and poignant Josh...I watched one of the most beautiful docos on Netflix last night...My Octopus Teacher...for some reason your wonderful poem reminded me of its beauty.

"All will be well!" I think not. Excellent write any way Josh. Thank you for teaching me something new (Juliana of Norwich). I will have to explore her further.

"All shall be well" -- of course this is long-term thinking, cosmologically long I guess. Was all well for the civilizations whose cities are now resting under the sea off the coast of Japan, and elsewhere? It seems we're on a downer at the moment, and my parents thought so in the 1930s, but I always reckon there will be 'pockets of hope' and I try and link to those. Thanks again for commenting; cheers, Josh.

Your erudition is always in harmonious proportion to your emotional relevance. It seems a very well crafted commentary on our state of being, metaphors holding a bit of the cheek one is happy to find in your writings. You know someone is holding wisdom if their able to smile.

Thank you Daniel. I'm not sure if it's wisdom, or an increasing sense of detachment as I get older that allows me to 'poke' a little. Anyway, thank you again for commenting 📝

Re. Beautiful Planet
Dear J,
I’m completely in awe and fascinated by everything about this poem. The style, which I’d never heard of before, to me, the aliens representing politicians over the people’s of the planet and the infiltration of thoughts. It is so representative of right this minute. I so admire your creative thought process. It is so scary to think we can be manipulated like this and in the very next stanza you offer hope for redemption in humanity. Love it. H🌷

Thank you H again for such an uplifting comment. In fact it's the 'Title Poem' of a book of 52 villanelles (& their derivatives, like this one). I printed out one copy for myself, sitting on the shelf behind me. There it's stayed for 2 years waiting for me to get tech savvy and do something with it. Quite a lot of my villanelles on DUP are from the book. RL again much appreciated 🙏

Thank you Wally; it's nice to get feed-back that the spoken-word part is appreciated too. Best regards, Josh.
